Pete Davidson Delivered a Raw and Hilarious Night in Detroit
Pete Davidson’s stop at The Fillmore Detroit felt more like hanging out with the funniest guy at a party than watching a normal stand-up show. The entire night was chaotic in the best way possible. Pete has this way of making even the darkest or most ridiculous stories feel weirdly relatable, and the crowd was locked in from the start. One of the funniest moments was when he joked about driving into a house sober and how people almost seemed disappointed that there wasn’t some insane drug-fueled story behind it. The way he delivers jokes so casually makes them hit even harder.
He mixed in a lot of personal stuff too, especially talking about rehab and buying his mom a house. Somehow he turned that into a joke about her being disappointed in the house he bought her while he was on drugs, which completely killed in the room. It’s what makes Pete different from a lot of comics he can go from serious to completely unhinged in seconds and it never feels forced. He also mentioned he’s working on a new hour right now, and based on this set, it’s shaping up to be really good.
The second half of the night got even crazier. Pete threw out a Diddy joke that had the entire theater gasping before immediately laughing. That pretty much summed up the whole show. He also talked about doing community service where he had to take notes during brain surgery, which sounds fake but somehow believable coming from him. Then somehow the conversation ended up on stuff like the “cake fart girl,” and by that point the entire crowd was dying laughing at how absurd everything had gotten. It wasn’t some polished, perfect comedy set and honestly that’s why it worked so well. It felt real, awkward, random, and hilarious the entire night.
