Evanescence Lights Up Pine Knob
The first time I remember really hearing Evanescence was in Daredevil. “Bring Me to Life” came on during the movie and immediately stuck with me. It’s one of those songs that takes you right back to a certain time, and hearing it live years later at Pine Knob was a pretty cool full-circle moment. Amy Lee’s voice was even more impressive in person, sounding just as powerful live as it does on the recordings.
The band also brought a great stage setup with them. A large, slanted light-up floor covered the stage and became part of the show as the lights changed with the music. It gave the performance a huge visual presence, especially during the heavier songs. The combination of the lighting, the stage design and Evanescence’s darker sound made the whole thing feel bigger than a typical outdoor concert.
Of course, Amy Lee was the star of the night. She sounded absolutely amazing from beginning to end, whether she was singing the quieter parts or letting loose on the huge vocal moments. Hearing “Bring Me to Life” live was easily one of the highlights, especially knowing that was the song that first introduced me to Evanescence all those years ago. After hearing that song in Daredevil back then, getting to photograph and experience it live at Pine Knob was one of those moments that makes you appreciate how far music can stick with you.
