A Night of Singalongs with Say Anything and Motion City Soundtrack at The Fillmore Detroit
Say Anything opened the night at The Fillmore Detroit and set the tone with a set that leaned into their early, fan favorite material. Max Bemis brought his usual restless energy, moving constantly and throwing himself into every lyric. The crowd didn’t need much warming up a lot of people were clearly there to relive these songs, and the singalongs started almost immediately. It wasn’t flashy or overproduced, just loud, emotional, and very on brand for them.
Motion City Soundtrack followed and felt right at home in the headlining spot. From the start, their set felt tight and confident. Justin Courtney Pierre sounded great, and the mix of guitars and synth gave the room that familiar Motion City bounce. They moved smoothly through their setlist, mixing bigger songs with a few deeper cuts, and the crowd stayed locked in the whole time. The biggest reactions came during the classics, with nearly the entire Fillmore shouting the choruses back at the stage.
Overall, it was a solid, no frills night that delivered exactly what fans came for. Both bands sounded good, the energy stayed consistent, and the crowd carried a lot of the momentum with nonstop singalongs. It felt like a reunion for longtime fans comfortable, loud, and worth showing up for.
