Rise Against and Underoath at Pine Knob

Pine Knob was shaking as Papa Roach headlined a powerhouse lineup alongside Rise Against and Underoath a trio that proved rock is far from dead. Underoath opened the night with a dark and emotional set that blended aggression and melody perfectly. Spencer Chamberlain’s ferocious screams and Aaron Gillespie’s soaring vocals tore through fan favorites like “Writing on the Walls” and “Reinventing Your Exit.” Their lighting and energy turned the amphitheater into a blur of strobe and sound, setting the tone for what would be a relentless night of music.

Rise Against followed, delivering a politically charged and emotionally resonant set that had the entire crowd shouting along. Tim McIlrath’s vocals carried a sense of purpose as the band ripped through “Savior,” “Prayer of the Refugee,” and “Give It All.” Between songs, he reminded the crowd that punk has always been about community and resistance. It was a perfect mix of nostalgia and urgency tight, powerful, and impossible not to sing along to.

By the time Papa Roach hit the stage, the energy at Pine Knob was electric. Jacoby Shaddix stormed across the stage with his signature intensity, feeding off the crowd’s every scream. The band tore through a career-spanning set that included “Between Angels and Insects,” “Getting Away With Murder,” and their breakout anthem “Last Resort,” which had every person on their feet. Shaddix made the massive venue feel intimate, constantly reaching out to fans and turning the show into a shared experience. It was raw, loud, and full of life a reminder why Papa Roach remains one of rock’s most enduring live acts.
