Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson take over Pine Knob
Marilyn Manson opened the night at Pine Knob, bringing his dark and theatrical style to the stage. The set leaned heavily into the atmosphere that has always been a big part of his live shows, with a mix of older material and newer songs. It was a strong way to get the crowd ready for a night that was going to get even louder and more chaotic once Rob Zombie took the stage.
Rob Zombie came out with the kind of over-the-top production you would expect, complete with huge visuals, lights, and plenty of energy. The show did run into some technical problems when the background screens started having issues. Instead of letting the interruption kill the momentum, Zombie took the opportunity to talk to the crowd and revealed that the show was being recorded for a live album. It was a cool moment that gave the crowd something unexpected to take away from the technical delay.
Once things got back on track, Zombie went right back into the show and delivered the kind of loud, theatrical performance that has made him a staple of rock and metal for decades. Between the music, visuals and nonstop energy onstage, it was a fitting way to close out the night. Even with the screen problems, the production never completely lost its impact, and the announcement about the live album made the Pine Knob crowd feel like they were part of something that would live on beyond the concert.
