Cash Money Millionaires Bring 30 Years of Fire to Detroit
Last Thursday night at Little Caesars Arena felt like stepping into a time machine. The Cash Money Millionaires Birdman, Juvenile, B.G., Turk, and Mannie Fresh brought their 30th Anniversary Tour to Detroit, and it wasn’t just a concert, it was a full-blown celebration of an era. If you grew up with 400 Degreez in your CD player or blasting from your cousin’s car speakers, this was one of those nights that made all those memories come rushing back.
The openers set the tone early. State Property Beanie Sigel, Freeway, and Young Gunz kicked things off with a gritty, straight-to-the-point set that had the crowd locked in. Then The Lox came out and completely raised the bar. Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch treated the stage like it was theirs to own, running through classics like “Money, Power & Respect” and “We Gonna Make It” with the kind of raw energy that’s hard to fake. They even took a moment to pay tribute to DMX, and it hit hard. You could feel it in the room.
But once the Cash Money crew stepped out, the whole place flipped. Mannie Fresh warmed it up with a DJ set, then Juvenile wasted no time diving into “Ha,” and it was like nothing had changed since ‘98. B.G. followed up with “I Want It,” and paused to shout out Detroit for holding him down after Katrina one of the most genuine moments of the night. Birdman came out with all his Birdman-ness for “#1 Stunna,” and the crew even showed love to Lil Wayne with “Mrs. Officer.” They closed with “Back That Azz Up,” and I swear the whole arena was jumping top to bottom. No lasers, no pyro just straight hits and a crowd that knew every word.
This wasn’t just a throwback show. It was a reminder of how much Cash Money really changed the game. Their music still hits, still moves people, and still fills arenas. Detroit showed up heavy, and the Millionaires gave it right back.
